Happy Groundhog Day! It looks like we’re in for six more weeks of winter, but don’t worry, there’s still a week ahead filled with delicious happenings with our local restaurants. Let’s dive in to this week’s Monday Minute…

Business Updates

  • Ropp Jersey Cheese closed their doors on January 31st. The local cheese business had been part of the B-N community for over 20 years. They planned to close on Feb 7th, but sold out of inventory this past weekend.
  • An early morning fire on Saturday at Longbranch Again in Cooksville resulted in a total loss for the building. The cause is still unknown, and no details have been released yet on plans to rebuild.
  • In more positive news, The Cat’s Meow Cafe hit a milestone with their 500th cat adoption! The business has been around just two years and 4 months.
  • Tellers Lounge will open soon in Heyworth after renovations are complete. Owners Mike and Jenn Gibson purchased the former Luck of the Irish space, which closed in late summer 2025.
  • The Shake Shack in Lexington reopens for the season on Friday, February 6th. While the groundhog didn’t see his shadow, this still gives us hope that spring is on the way!

Business Hour Changes

  • Nautical Bowls Uptown location is now open Monday-Friday 8 am-6 pm and Saturday & Sunday 9 am-7 pm. Their Four Seasons location is open Monday-Friday 9 am-7 pm, Saturday 8 am-2 pm and closed Sunday.

Menu Changes

  • Wesley’s Grill has added some delicious new fried seafood items including alligator, crawfish, tilapia, squid and more. They’ve also got over a dozen new dessert items getting added to the menu this week!
  • The Brown Jug has a new menu including their daily Jug Burger Special!
